Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior Research Associate- Nerica in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
IPA is a research and policy non-profit that discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty problems.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Senior Research Associate – Nerica will perform the following functions-
- Take the lead for planning and organizing surveying activities.
- Communicate with the lead researchers to assist in refining the study design, piloting survey instruments, and monitoring compliance with the study design.
- Oversee data quality assurance following IPA protocols.
- Oversee field managers and recruiting a team of surveyors.
- Manage the study budget and ensure all spending complies with IPA protocols.
- Coordinate with BRAC, the implementing partner, to design farmer training and ensure the distribution of rice seed.
- Clean data and assist in preliminary analysis.
- Writing project reports and policy memos.
- Coordinate with the researchers and the IPA Sierra Leone Country director on all aspects of the project.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree in economics or statistics preferred.
- Strong bachelors with applicable work experience will also be considered.
- 2 years of work experience, preferably in a research setting or managing development programming.
- Demonstrated management and organizational skills, including program financial management.
- Significant prior work experience in developing countries is required, preferably conducting field research and managing survey teams.
- Strong quantitative data analysis skills, (STATA skills strongly preferred).
- Flexibility, self-motivation, the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently as a team player.
