Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of The Senior Editor and Technical Writer in Kyrgyz Republic.
The Senior Editor and Technical Writer is responsible for conceptualizing, writing and editing content for various communications and marketing platforms (print, online, multimedia, power point, posters, banners), as well as UCA research, materials.
The mission of AKDN is to improve the welfare and prospects of people in the developing world, particularly in Asia and Africa, without regard to faith, origin or gender.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Senior Editor and Technical Writer will perform the following functions-
- Conceptualize and develop content for University communications and marketing outputs, including website content, newsletters, flyers and press releases and other materials, including writing and editing content, fact checking, updating and verifying information.
- Work with University leadership and programme staff across functions and locations to gather and synthesize information and produce accessible, engaging, high quality outputs for use in internal and external platforms.
- Develop content for institutional publications to shape and support institutional and programme development and fundraising.
- Develop and write UCA stories to highlight UCA brand and value proposition for UCA, the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) and external news platforms.
- Develop strategic approaches and documentation to further institutional and communications and marketing objectives.
- Provide strategic analysis, strategic content and fact checking to ensure consistency, political sensitivity and institutional history in various phases of UCA’s development.
- Serve as Editor of UCA News and UCA News e-blasts.
- Work with Head of Communications and Marketing and Media Production and Design Manager to ensure congruence in content, design and production.
- Develop and update internal communications policies and protocols, such as UCA Editorial Style Guide and UCA Writing Guide.
- Mentor fellows, interns and volunteers, with a focus on writing and editorial skills, strategic approaches, quality control, institutional history and consistency.
- Provide substantive and copy editing services to UCA programmes as part of programme development, capacity building and branding.
- Support programme staff to enhance English-language writing and publishing skills.
- Contribute to UCA research outputs.
- Prepare and review content for institutional documents, including annual report, department reports and proposals to donors.
- Serve as a liaison between UCA Communications and Marketing team and partners.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A master’s degree and experience in a relevant field (international development, education, communications, journalism, English language).
- Superior writing skills in a variety of styles and voices for a range of platforms.
- Exacting editing skills; both substantive editing and copy editing.
- Proven ability to analyze and efficiently process written and verbal information to create engaging and accessible content for a range of internal and external platforms.
- Experience developing institutional documents, such as strategic plans, annual and programme reports and proposals.
- Experience and comfort working in evolving institutions.
- Proven ability to produce high volumes of high quality content under pressure.
- Solid record in publishing in a range of media.
- Excellent communications skills, including ability to communicate across institutional hierarchy, cultures and locations.
- Sound judgment to manage confidential information and serve as liaison to partner organizations.
- Fluency in English.
- Highly accomplished skills to work in a range of international writing and editorial styles, such as Oxford, Chicago and AP styles and the ability to adapt to UCA and AKDN institutional specificities and linguistic preferences.
- Experience in and knowledge of international development, capacity building, education and Central Asia a plus.
