Save the Children is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Humanitarian Logistics Advisor in Ethiopia. The duration for the post is of 6 months.
The Humanitarian Logistics Specialist will ensure an effective and accountable logistics support systems in place in line with the SCi’s global as well as SC-Ethiopia’s national policies and procedures to support the ongoing humanitarian.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Humanitarian Logistics Advisor will perform the following functions-
- Support the ongoing Logistics operations for the humanitarian responses.
- Work with Country Logs Director and CO Supply Chain Specialist to setup framework agreements to meet the needs of the humanitarian response.
- Plan and implement an effective order pipeline management system for the response and organize schedules for bulk and economical purchases.
- Coordinate and make certain that all logistics requirements are delivered in accordance with timescales set and agreed with programme managers.
- Regularly review programmes logistical requirements and ensure that programme works are carried out in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
- Provide support and work closely with the program/ project heads in developing procurement plan.
- Support Logs Director to implement SCI Logistics Procedures and rollout Country Logistics Manual in their area of operations i.e. all field offices within the remit of Logs Hub.
- Participating in assessments and feeding into proposals/ reports with recommendations for management decisions.
- Being responsible for the logistics management/coordination of humanitarian teams and processes.
- Specifically, this will involve the design of Procurement and Logistical Plans together with program teams and their operational implementation through proper management of Supply Chains up to final delivery to program teams. It may also include warehousing, inventory and distribution management where applicable.
- Delivery of appropriate and reliable support services, as needed, i.e. communication, transportation, office set-up and infrastructures.
- Managing shipments of emergency stock from warehouses (where they exist) during emergencies.
- Ensuring compatibility to applicable quality standards and adherence to any specific contractual (donor) requirements or general SCI procedures and policies (as they are developed) in relation to all Logistics processes.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Recommended a minimum of 5 years in Logistics management experience in NGO environment, including significant field operations experience running both development and emergency programs.
- BA/BCS degree or equivalent in management,, Development Studies or other social sciences .
- Diploma/certificate courses in Logistics and Supply Chain strongly preferred.
- A good understanding of Basic service programs and a working knowledge of the Country program priorities.
- Substantial experience in logistics, including procurement, supply chain, fleet management & inventory.
- Ability to analyze information, evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- Ability and willingness to change work practices and hours, and work with incoming teams in the event of major emergencies.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively in country.
