The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Senior Advisor based in New York, USA.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Senior Advisor will perform the following functions-
- Monitor global trends in humanitarian cooperation and aid and provide strategic support to updating UNICEF’s resource mobilization strategies. In coordination with the relevant ROs and COs conceptualize and develop fundraising strategies for humanitarian cases.
- Analyse humanitarian funding trends and monitoring of changes in humanitarian financing environment in close collaboration with all funding clusters and Office of Emergency Programmes (EMOPS).
- Maintain an active network of interlocutors with other UN agencies as needed to ensure the best possible UNICEF approach to humanitarian financing and all funding modalities as a part of overall UN coherence, as well as adequate knowledge of other agencies’ policies and partnerships. Participate in the Inter-agency Standing Committee (IASC) Humanitarian Funding and Financing discussions.
- Prepare comprehensive and substantive briefs, reports, statistics and other documentation for Senior Management meetings with senior officials or partner organizations and governments as required.
- Oversee the support to country and regional offices in support of their humanitarian resource mobilization agendas and strategies and ensure that requests are responded to in a timely manner.
- Oversee maintenance of internal and external sites and links to information on humanitarian funding information and policy.
- In close collaboration with funding units of PPD, EMOPS, and as well as Programme Division, coordinate design, production and communication of elements of comprehensive fundraising packages around key humanitarian focus areas, and ensure their quality with the aim of maximizing and scaling up resource mobilization for the Strategic Plan priorities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- An Advanced university degree in social and economic sciences or related field.
- Specialized training in international relations and policy desirable.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible relevant work experience at national and international levels in the area of social and economic development and cooperation, preferably fundraising in an international organization.
- Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second UN language (i.e. Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish) and/or the local language of the duty station is considered an asset.
