World Food Programme (WFP) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Business Support Assistant in Amman, Jordan. The duration for the post is of 12 months.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Business Support Assistant will perform the following functions-
- Distribute incoming mail into the correct boxes or pigeonholes.
- Sort odd-sized mail by hand, and segregate items requiring special handling.
- Check items to ensure that addresses are legible and correct, that sufficient postage has been paid or the appropriate documentation is attached, and that items are in a suitable condition for processing.
- Bundle, label, and route sorted mail to designated areas, depending on destinations and according to established procedures and deadlines.
- Search directories to find correct addresses for redirected mail.
- Operate various types of equipment, such as computer scanning equipment, fax etc.
- Rewrap soiled or broken parcels.
- Direct items according to established routing schemes, using computer-controlled keyboards or voice-recognition equipment.
- Accept and check containers of mail from large volume mailers, couriers, and contractors.
- Weigh articles to determine required postage.
- Ensure office is adequately stocked with mail supplies.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Secondary school education.
- At least four years of progressively responsible support work experience in the area of Registry and Telephone operator.
- Good knowledge on Switch boar system would be highly desired.
- Proficiency in the use of office equipment and computer software packages, such as Microsoft Word, Knowledge of work routines and methods in order to complete processes under minimal supervision, Uses tact and courtesy to give and receive information to a wide range of individuals.
- Ability to identify data discrepancies and rectify problems requiring attention.
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English/Arabic.
