Abt Associates is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Capacity Building and Training Specialist in Ghana.
The Capacity Building and Training Specialist will provide technical and programmatic support broadly to the Trade Hub project components, to improve the quality of capacity development support provided to partner organizations.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Capacity Building and Training Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Contribute to the design, planning, and implementation of value chain development activities to enhance competitiveness in the focus value chains including: value chain analysis; definition of upgrading strategies and specific actions; and, implementation of activities aimed at building capacity to increase trade.
- Participate in the assessments of organizational capacity using the USAID diagnostic tool, Organizational Capacity Assessment Tool (OCAT), to identify technical assistance needs of current and incoming partners.
- Draft tailored and strategic capacity building technical assistance interventions responsive to needs based on analyses of OCATs.
- Contribute to the design and development of training and other capacity building events across the Trade Hub project components.
- Provide technical support to all project components in the preparation of training modules and other learning materials on themes and topics relevant to the objectives of the project.
- Attend relevant meetings, technical working groups, conferences, etc. to share knowledge generated through Trade Hub project activities, and leverage collaboration.
- Contribute to Trade Hub M&E activities, including data collection and reporting in coordination with the Trade Hub M&E team.
- Support the M&E and Communications teams to develop case studies and success stories from Trade Hub activities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Preferably Master’s degree in agribusiness, marketing, or organizational development and management.
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree in agricultural science, business administration, organizational development.
- At least five (5) years of experience in agribusiness development, with desired emphasis on two of the following: organizational development (e.g. commodity cooperatives, farmer associations, and agricultural marketing associations), value chain competitiveness development, agricultural marketing, MSME development, and regional/international trade policy.
- Experience with international development and donor-funded programs. Familiarity with USAID-funded projects will be an advantage.
- Private sector experience in agribusiness development and management desired.
- Previous experience conducting capacity building needs assessments and analysis, program activity design, implementation management, and evaluations.
- Familiarity with adult learning principles and experience organizing relevant professional development training programs and learning materials development.
- Previous experience on USAID-funded agricultural/agribusiness development programs, including contributing to M&E, report writing, and designing and leading program activities.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Proficiency in French language will be an advantage.
