United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Health & Nutrition Officer in Jordan.
The Health & Nutrition Officer will provide professional technical assistance and support for programme/project design, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and administration of H&N service provision at the border, including data collection, validation, analysis, and progress reporting.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Health & Nutrition Officer will perform the following functions-
- Support the monitoring of the performance of the contracted agency (an association which provides health and nutrition service provider at the border) in terms of H&N quality service delivery.
- Support the planning for service delivery (e.g. daily, weekly monthly newborn kits, plump sup distributions) in coordination with contracted agency.
- Develop Contingency Plans and identify risks and to militate against these.
- Support the ongoing monitoring of the H&N needs, especially among newborn and child health, nutrition service needs and identify gaps in the provision of services.
- Develop a mobilization system amongst the refugees to collect information on the practices in the refugee living area, the priorities, and a means to communicate on upcoming activities.
- Support the development of key H&N messages in coordination with other sector officers (WASH/Hygiene) and training of community workers and implement C4D plan.
- Develop a mobile H&N data collection and monitoring system.
- Support the coordination of activities with other agencies and contractors.
- Support the reporting of progress, needs and gaps.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- University degree in Medicine, Public Health and Nutrition or other relevant disciplines.
- Additional training in Newborn health, Health Education or Communication for Development (Programme Communication), an asset.
- At least two years of professional experience working with the UN, NGO, private sector or national government.
- At least two years’ experience in design, implementation and monitoring of emergency Health and Nutrition programmes in displaced/refugee camp situations.
- Background/familiarity with Emergency preparedness and response (and the IASC Cluster approach).
- Demonstrated coordination, communication and interpersonal skills; diplomacy in negotiation, liaison and representation skills; self-awareness, high ethical and professional standards, cultural sensitivity and team work.
- Excellent analytical and management skills.
- Ability to multi-task in a dynamic environment.
- Fluency in English and Arabic required.
