The World Food Programme (WFP) is currently accepting applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Programme Assistant based in Homs, Syria.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Programme Assistant will perform the following functions-
- Monitor the implementation of the food assistance Programme from the CO as well as during missions, in close collaboration with the cooperating partners;
- When on mission, supervise the efficient distribution of food items at the site, ensure proper distribution of entitlements, verify appropriate entitlements are distributed, and provide feedback to M&E/VAM section and others on the distribution mechanisms;
- Monitor and provide appropriate feedback on the electronic voucher distribution modality according to agreed monitoring standards;
- When on mission, gather quantitative and qualitative data on the outputs and outcomes of projects according to agreed indicators/checklists;
- Conduct case studies to complement M&E/VAM data;
- Monitor and assist the M&E/VAM section to review overall commodity movements such as food deliveries, storage, transport and distribution at the site and in collaboration with the Logistics Unit verify if the amounts received have been properly recorded, damaged or suspected to be damaged;
- Identify any other project implementation related issues and report them to both the M&E/VAM section as well as the concerned sections of the Country Office;
- Assist in the preparation of monitoring reports by providing quantitative and qualitative input;
- Review reports on project implementation and provide feedback accordingly;
- Actively participate in Food Security Assessments if and when needed;
- Train and provide guidance to SARC field monitors;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Completed secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area is desirable.
- Experience utilizing computers including word processing, spreadsheet and other software packages.
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic.
