International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Research Coordinator in Washington DC, United States. The duration for the post is of 2 years.
The Research Coordinator will support the Secretariat of the Food Security Information Network (FSIN), which was launched jointly by IFPRI, FAO and WFP on 11th of October 2012.
The mission of IFPRI is to provide research-based policy solutions that sustainably reduce poverty and end hunger and malnutrition.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Research Coordinator will perform the following functions-
- In the elaboration and endorsement of an analytical framework for carrying out a rapid inventory of food and nutrition security information methods and tools.
- In conducting a rapid inventory of existing food and nutrition security information methods and tools in selected priority areas, as well as assist in the maintenance and expansion of the inventory.
- In conducting a peer review process to identify best practices on priority topics in food and nutrition security indicators, methods and tools.
- In monitoring and responding to feedback from members of the FSIN Community of Practice on priority topics and best practices.
- In coordinating the implementation of pilot activities to harmonize information systems, indicators and methods for prioritized countries.
- In the identification of gaps and the development of innovative grant proposals to technically resolve those gaps.
- Develop, monitor and revise, as needed, program work plans and timelines for approval by the Steering Committee and Advisory Board (AB); Manage the overall FSIN work plan calendar, activities, deliverables and related budget; develop concept notes, funding proposals, and budgets, as needed.
- Support the Steering Committee and AB -as appropriate –with fundraising and donor liaison activities.
- Assist in the management of FSIN partnerships with country, regional and global level stakeholders, co11aborators, and other partners.
- Plan and coordinate international workshops, meetings and training events, including annual meetings of the FSIN Community of Practice.
- Develop, as needed, program-related presentation materials.
- Support regular meetings/events of the Steering Committee, Advisory Board and Technical Working Groups; and.
- Maintain meeting minutes and related materials.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- PhD in Economics, Agricultural Economics, International Development, International Relations, social science, demography or related fields with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience managing food security or nutrition security programs and projects.
- Proven ability to produce quality technical, implementation oriented and policy oriented reports.
- Excellent writing and communications skills in English.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Ability to interact and communicate with diverse audiences.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally as necessary.
- Proficiency in a second language of the U.N. system.
