Population Services International (PSI) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Country Representative in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
The Country Representative will represent PSI to government, key stakeholders and donors; directs international staff and host country national staff; develops new business opportunities.
PSI is a global health organization dedicated to improving the health of people in the developing world by focusing on serious challenges like a lack of family planning, HIV and AIDS, barriers to maternal health, and the greatest threats to children under five, including malaria, diarrhea, pneumonia and malnutrition.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Country Representative will perform the following functions-
- Leadership of a senior management team including departmental directors responsible for: marketing and communications; malaria; research and evaluation; finance; administration; and human resources.
- Development of annual marketing and operational plans together with longer-term strategic plans.
- Fundraising for existing and new activities.
- External relations with multiple donors, government, NGO, and commercial entities.
- Oversight of internal controls and accountability mechanisms.
- Program development, including further innovation within existing program areas and expansion into new areas such as nutrition.
- Develop and maintain systems that ensure the safety and security of the team and PSI assets in all aspects of its work according to best practices, PSI operating standards and field realities.
- Develop and enforce field office administrative policies. Promote and demonstrate an ethical environment in line with PSI’s values of honesty and acting with integrity. Support the application of appropriate internal controls to protect PSI’s assets.
- Liaise with the Global Security Department and Deputy Regional Director on crucial events, high-risk periods, and incident reporting and security policy changes.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience; with minimum five years management experience in a developing country.
- Relevant post-graduate degree (MBA, MIA, MPH, etc.) or equivalent experience.
- Significant fundraising, personnel, operational and financial management experience preferably in Asia, with a technical background in marketing, advertising, or communications a plus.
- Demonstrated strengths in strategic organizational leadership.
- Knowledge of international development and health issues.
- Proven ability to develop and mentor staff.
- Familiarity with the international donor community.
- Experience working in fragile states and/or situations of political sensitivity.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
