Global Communities is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Crime & Violence Prevention Specialist in Guatemala.
The Crime & Violence Prevention Specialist will advise the crime and violence strategy of a proposed $35-40 million five-year Community Strengthening Project.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Crime & Violence Prevention Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Provide technical leadership, guidance and development of good practices that integrate women, youth, and community and local governance actors in crime and violence prevention.
- Identify, document and communicate the ideas, trends and emerging capacities in crime and violence prevention.
- Actively engage men and boys in transforming attitudes to gender based violence.
- Advice program staff in the development and execution of program activities, monitoring and evaluation and reporting requirements.
- Ensure all programs are in line with Global Communities internal rules and regulations as well as compliant with donor regulations.
- Assist staff to identify and develop relevant local technical expertise in the areas of youth and crime, violence prevention and gender based violence.
- Assist Program Managers in community- led conflict mapping, design, planning and implementation of conflict mitigation and peace building activities.
- Participate in relevant fora in Guatemala related to crime and violence prevention.
- Provide technical assistance and mentoring of CSP staff on best practice principles, disciplines, and methodologies related to crime and violence prevention.
- Assist with development of training materials and deliver training to staff and local partners.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree or equivalent in social science, management, business, law or international development.
- 7 years’ experience working on crime and violence prevention, preferably in Central America.
- Experience working on gender based violence issues, including domestic violence
- Experience in volatile security situations and a commitment to team safety.
- Commitment to the principles of participatory team management and participatory, community-oriented development.
- Effective verbal and written communication, multi-tasking, organizational skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English required; Spanish strongly preferable.
- Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and constructively with local partners.
- Competent in building networks, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to influence with effective listening, persuasion, negotiation and other techniques.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work independently and cooperatively with team members.
