United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Project Manager in Darfur, Sudan. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management and coordination of activities of the Road drainage structure construction and water harvesting structures development project.
UNOPS mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Project Manager will perform the following functions-
- Establish solid working relationship with the project board (Executive, senior users and Senior Suppliers) client and key stakeholders.
- Manage communications and ensure stakeholders are aware of project activities, progress, exceptions and are in opposition to accept handover products.
- Advise the client on issues that may impact the achievements of their outcomes (including issues of sustainability and post project requirements such as maintenance).
- Manage the information flows between the project Board/Hub or HoO and the project.
- Participate in the relevant Communities of Practice.
- Actively interact with other PMs and the PM community to share case studies, lessons learned and best practice on the Knowledge System.
- Provide feedback to Practice Leads on policy, supporting guidance with an aim towards continuous improvement of UNOPS policies.
- Complete lessons learned as per reporting format.
- Incorporate lessons learned from others as per planning format.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced University Degree in Project Management, Environmental or Civil Engineering, Business Administration other relevant discipline.
- University Degree (bachelor’s degree / first level) in Project Management, Environmental or Civil Engineering ,Business Administration or other relevant discipline with 2 additional years of experience .
- A minimum of 7 years (or more based on academic credentials) of progressive experience in road & bridge construction, water resources development project with focus on management, monitoring, reporting, operational management and coordination in either public or private sector organizations.
- Work experience in hardship and hazardous duty stations similar to conditions in Darfur/Sudan is desired.
- Experience of working in fragile and conflict affected areas is highly desirable.
- Experience of leading engagement with partners to deliver results to quality and on time is highly desirable.
- Fluency in English is required.
- Fluency in Arabic language is an asset.
