The United Nations Children’s Fund is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Program Specialist, based in Amman, Jordan.
UNICEF has been working on the ground in 190 countries and territories to promote children’s survival, protection and development.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Program Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Provide managerial support to the implementation as per the Makani work plan (including training, curricula development, outreach component and C4D/visibility), ensuring coordination and follow up on Makani-related issues with Child Protection, Education and youth sections to achieve results for children attending Makani centres.
- Provide guidance to the sections in relation to the Makani logical framework and based on the available Makani reference documents.
- In cooperation with the M&E Officer, ensure that necessary information is collected to monitor the implementation and progress vs. Makani results.
- Ensure corrective actions are taken by the relevant sections as new information becomes available via the real time monitoring of Makani centers.
- Oversee the preparation of Standard Operating Procedures for delivery of services in Makani, based on input from sections and partners.
- In cooperation with the M&E officer, facilitate the collection and dissemination of good practices in delivering results at Makani centers, so that newer or less experienced centers are supported in catching up with the most effective Makani centers.
- Oversee the preparation of a standard protocol featuring minimum standards for infrastructure of Makanis, based on input from the relevant sections.
- Produce regular updates and external communication materials on Makani centers, in coordination with the Communications sections.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced university degree in international development, international studies, peacebuilding, engineering, business administration, or related fields.
- A first university degree with a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience may be accepted in lieu of advanced university degree.
- At least 7 years of experience in project management and field experience, either in the private sector or in implementing technical cooperation projects. Experience in the private sector would be an asset.
- Proven ability to coordinate different technical experts and to prepare operational manuals, standard operating procedures, protocols and similar documents based on technical input by different experts.
- Capacity to coordinate complex projects involving different stakeholders and ensure effective follow up is continuously provided.
- Capacity to interact with implementing partners operating on the field in a solution-oriented matter.
- Proven ability to work under time constraints to deliver high quality output.
- Proven research and analytical skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Excellent level of English
- Proficiency in Arabic would be an asset.
