United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of TA Child Protection Officer in Kalemie, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The TA Child Protection Officer will assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of demobilization and care of the Children Associated with Armed Forces and groups (CAFAAG), the prevention and response to sexual violence situations
UNICEF supports child health and nutrition, good water and sanitation, quality basic education for all boys and girls, and the protection of children from violence, exploitation, and AIDS.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The TA Child Protection Officer will perform the following functions-
- Monitor the existing CAFFAG Transit and Orientation Centers (CTOs) and establish new ones when necessary in Tanganyika, while ensuring a harmonized and quality support in the respect of the Operational Framework for Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR).
- Prepare recommendations for improvement of care in CTOs and ensure their follow-up.
- Coordinate the separation of children from adult combatants and the verification process.
- Participate in the planning, supervision and follow-up of community, educational and socio-economic reintegration of the CAFFAG and children affected by conflict.
- Strengthen U NICEF partner’s capacity DDR Framework.
- Support partners in the preparation of proposals, and monitor their implementation.
- Ensure the monitoring and the preparation of reports for the Pooled Fund Project.
- Coordinate the response to children victims of violence in relations with conflict.
- In collaboration with the Kalemie child protection officer ensure UNICEF’s participation in emergency coordination meetings in Kalemie (Cluster Protection, Coordination of SGBV, Inter Cluster, pillar SGBV Data Mapping, etc…).
- Any other tasks requested by the needs of the section.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A first University Degree in Social Sciences, Law, Development, Educational Sciences or other equivalent studies.
- International work experience of at least two years in emergency contexts.
- Knowledge of the context of the DRC, particularly Tanganyika/Katanga is a plus.
- Possess computer skills: mastery of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- An excellent command of the French and English, spoken and written.
