The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Protection Coordinator in Amman, Jordan. The duration of this post is 8 months.
The Protection Coordinator will be responsible to represent and elevate DRC’s work in protection at local, national, regional and global levels.
DRC is a humanitarian, non-governmental, non-profit organization founded in 1956 that works in more than 30 countries throughout the world, by fulfilling its mandate of providing direct assistance to conflict-affected populations – refugees, internally displaced people (IDPs) and host communities in the conflict areas of the world.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Protection Coordinator will perform the following functions-
- Proactively engage in bi-lateral coordination with local and international NGOs as well as with international public organizations to refine, expand and strengthen DRC’s referral and information assistance and partner networks.
- Participate in DRC global and regional protection resource development and information sharing initiatives.
- Represent DRC in UNHCR-led global, regional and national protection workshops to provide technical inputs, share good practices and contribute to protection tool development.
- Organize and facilitate protection-related workshops and other inter-agency events as agreed with the Country Director and Head of Programs (ex. on legal documentation related protection challenges, referral mechanisms).
- Provide protection-informed input in DRC Jordan internal coordination meetings including Senior Management Team meetings, Technical and Technical-Program meetings.
- Represent DRC in Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Focal Point Network.
- Advise on design and operation of Code of Conduct (CoC) and broader complaints reporting and response mechanism.
- Advise Registrar, Sr. Protection Officer, on the collection, documentation and sharing of complaints/reports with the DRC Complaints Review Committee.
- Serve on the Complaints Review Committee.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- University degree in law (MM/MS) human rights or related field, advanced university degree is preferred.
- 3–5 years work experience in protection or rule of law related projects in humanitarian contexts, including provision of technical advice to the field teams.
- Demonstrated aptitude in project design, management and implementation.
- Experience in designing, implementing and reporting on standalone protection activities.
- Fluency in English language.
- Fluency or proficiency in Arabic language is an advantage.
- Flexibility to work in a diverse multicultural team.
- Proven ability to live and work in an unstable, insecure environment.
