World Health Organization (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Data Manager in Geneva, Switzerland. The duration for the post is of 2 years.
The mission of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations’ system.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Data Manager will perform the following functions-
- Assist with the day-to-day management of the vaccines surveillance databases (including measles, rotavirus, and invasive bacterial diseases) housed in EPI.
- Assist the team in developing and conducting standardized methodologies to manage, collect, process, and ensure a high quality of data for the strategic information database.
- Assist with the development and refinement of IVB guidelines, methods and tools for collect, analyze and report new vaccine surveillance related data for public domain usage.
- Liaise and interact with national, regional and global counterparts to coordinate the effort to develop a standardized case based data system that would link laboratory and clinical data.
- Assist in generating the annual updates of burden of disease estimates for measles and other vaccine preventable diseases.
- Perform routine and exploratory analyses and contribute to the dissemination of surveillance information; produce summary tables, graphs and maps based on the analysis of the data, and sharing the data via the WHO website.
- Provide technical inputs and respond to ad hoc requests for data, analysis, presentations and information from own and other WHO units and partners.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- University degree with strong quantitative and analytical content (e.g. biostatistics, computing, statistical analysis, mathematics or epidemiology).
- Excellent and meticulous data management skills, including analysis and synthesis of data. Ability to work with large sets of data and multiple indicators.
- Advance command and proficient knowledge of MS Office and related applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Advance knowledge of statistical software (R or STATA). Understanding of public health programs is required, particularly immunization programs desirable.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, good inter-personal skills and Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
- High sense of responsibility, efficient, reliable, result-oriented and intuitive.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a team and dedication to collaboration.
- At least 2 years of experience in data management or related fields.
- Experience with collation and analysis of large datasets from multiple sources.
- Experience in data analysis.
- Familiarity with epidemiology.
- Familiarity with GIS (Global Information System).
- Expert knowledge of English.
- Knowledge of French.
