The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Database Officer based in Aden, Yemen.
UNOPS mission is to serve people in need by expanding the ability of the United Nations, governments and other partners to manage projects, infrastructure and procurement in a sustainable and efficient manner.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Database Officer will perform the following functions-
- Develop, implement and administer a database to gather and process information on commercial cargo shipments destined for Yemeni ports.
- Provide training for Coordination Officers, Monitors and the Inspection Team in the use of the database.
- Provide maintenance and end user technical support in issues relating to the database use and administration.
- Develop and implement proper backup, restore, data validation, and security procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
- Secure consistent availability of computer services.
- Provide the UNVIM team with ICT services in full coordination with the ICT specialist in the Amman hub.
- Visit field offices to provide technical support to the usage the database.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Project Manager.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced degree in Computer or Information Systems, Computer Engineering or other related field.
- A first-level university degree in combination with required qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- At least 5 years of progressively responsible relevant experience with database development and/or network security.
- Experience in providing excellent client/customer services.
- Experience in the area of logistics and/or the United Nations system is an advantage.
- Fluency in English is essential.
- Knowledge of Arabic Language is desirable.
