Human Rights Watch (HRW) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Graphic Designer in New York, United States. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Graphic Designer works to produce graphics and other content to assist in the promotion of our publications online.
Human Rights Watch defends the rights of people worldwide, and scrupulously investigates abuses, expose the facts widely, and pressure those with power to respect rights and secure justice.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Graphic Designer will perform the following functions-
- Create web-friendly graphics for daily news products, including press releases and blog posts, incorporating text, images, charts and other elements.
- Produce graphics for breaking news and on-going news stories to use in social media to promote our work and advocacy positions.
- Work with our multimedia group to assist on the production of graphics, including motion and interactive graphics, for use in our video products.
- Customize graphics for different social media platforms, including Snap chat, and promote graphics as part of HRW’s overall social media promotion plan.
- Assist our digital advocacy work in conceptualizing and producing graphics for on-line advocacy campaigns.
- Augment larger projects with graphic design work as needed; and.
- Carry out any other duties as required.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, or a related field is required.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in graphic design is required.
- Strong visual design skills with the ability to conceptualize and visually realize ideas are required.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Illustrator and In Design, is required.
- Ability to keep up with current trends in design and social media technologies is required.
- Strong interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively within HRW and ability to clearly communicate design rationale are required.
- Strong oral and written communications skills in English are required.
- Experience with CSS, JavaScript, and motion graphics using After Effects is a plus.
