International Organization for Migration (IOM) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Regional Field Security Officer in Panama City, Panama. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Regional Field Security Officer will be responsible for actively assisting the IOM Regional Offices (RO) with staff security related matters.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Regional Field Security Officer will perform the following functions-
- Develop and maintain a close working relationship with all UN Department of Safety and Security (UNDSS) country mission chief / security advisors while acquiring an in-depth and comprehensive working knowledge of the IOM/UNDSS Memorandum of understanding (MOU) related to various security protocols stipulated in the existing MOU as well as attend all Security Management Team (SMT) meetings in country.
- Maintain an overview and ensure adherence by all IOM staff members to the UNDSS.
- Travel Request Information Process (TRIP), the Movement of Personnel (MOP) procedures and the UN security clearance policy. Also ensure all IOM staff members have a working knowledge of the UN Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS).
- Minimum Operating Residential Security Standards (MORSS), Mission Security Risk Assessments (SRAs) and the UNDSS Field Security Handbook – that includes an understanding of various UNDSS evacuation/emergency and security plans.
- Acquire comprehensive operational understanding of IOM programs in the region and provide advice, including Security Risk assessments in areas where IOM works or is planning to work with its teams.
- Conduct regular reviews of existing IOM / UN security documents for IOM premises, compounds and field offices within the regions, with the aim of ensuring that they are functional and are updated.
- Support Missions during the project development process utilizing the UNSMS Security Risk Management methodology by providing security analysis, operating procedures and other related support.
- Report security matters that have a direct impact on the regional operations of IOM, immediately to the appropriate RD`s located in Europe and to the Global Head of Staff Security Unit Geneva.
- In coordination with the both RDs covering North America, Central America, South America and the Caribbean and SSU Head of Security at HQ Geneva, investigate security breaches/incidents in the region, working closely with local authorities in efforts to ensure IOM staff, its assets and interests are protected and appropriate and corrective measure taken.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree in Security Management/Social Sciences, Law, Disaster Management, International Studies, Communications or a related field from an accredited academic institution with eight years of relevant professional experience.
- University degree in the above fields with ten years of relevant professional
- Experience in security management, military experience, law enforcement, Disaster Risk Management preferably at an international level.
- Previous experience in UN Missions, International Peacekeeping or Emergency
- Experience in planning and execution of security agencies or organizations highly
- Previous experience in dealing with law enforcement agencies is an advantage.
- Proven ability to collaborate with senior military and government counterparts.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Working Knowledge of French would be an advantage.
