Open Society Foundations (OSF) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Communications Specialist in Baltimore, US.
The Communications Specialist is a key member of the OSI-Baltimore Communications unit, which is led by the Director of Strategic Communications.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Communications Specialist will perform the following functions-
- The team works closely with OSI-Baltimore’s Director, the donor development team, program staff, and OSI-Baltimore Advisory Board members to make the mission and impact of the Baltimore office better known to the public, policymakers and donors/prospects and to integrate strategic communications into OSI-Baltimore funded initiatives.
- Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for coordinating the production of all printed materials, overseeing the community website and social media, and implementing logistics for a whole host of events that include meetings to large public forums.
- Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills because of the vast array of materials produced, which range from internal reports, strategic plans, program brochures, newsletters and online content.
- Possess an understanding of graphic design, the ability to create and produce small scale projects, and a keen awareness of high quality production.
- Knowledge base and ease with online media to oversee the office’s community website and social media.
- Abreast of new technologies, identify trends and ideas to adopt, and help create new features that will help broaden support for issues that the office addresses as well as its fundraising efforts.
- Execution of a robust series of events, which raise awareness of the issues OSI-Baltimore addresses as well as support the office’s fundraising needs.
- Logistics and have excellent organizational skills and a facility with database software such as Salesforce and MailChimp to assure smooth implementation.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in a relevant field of study or equivalent experience; graduate degree desirable.
- 5-7 years of relevant experience and/or training.
- Experience in writing, editing, designing and managing publications, and writing for the web and social media.
- Familiarity with implementing relevant communication systems in philanthropic organizations and/or not-for-profits, including knowledge of relevant software.
- Experience in coordinating program logistics for complex internal and public events.
- Familiarity with communication trends and resources, including new technologies.
- Experience managing contracting processes, including oversight of bidding for services.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member and independently, with a high-level of self-motivation and ability to set and meet goals.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure, trouble-shoot, and meet short- and long-term deadlines with a heavy workload.
- Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide array of people with diverse backgrounds.
- Interest in continued professional growth and in the professional development of colleagues.
- Professional integrity and a commitment to the mission of OSI-Baltimore.
- proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, WordPress, Google Analytics and experience with internet research.
- Basic HTML proficiency preferred.
