Abt Associates is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Communications Specialist / Technical Specialist in Ethiopia.
The Communications Specialist / Technical Specialist will assist the project in improving our counterparts’ and the public understands of the project’s interventions in the Health Sector Development Program (HSDP) of the Country.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Communications Specialist / Technical Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Work with project senior management team to create a communication strategy and publicity protocols for the project, in adherence to USAID regulations as outlined in the project’s Branding & Marking Plan.
- Elements of the strategy will include development of project brochures and briefs, dissemination of standard talking points on the health financing reform process for all staff to use when speaking with media, creation of standard packages of publicity materials to use at all public events sponsored by the project, press releases, dissemination protocols for project reports and deliverables and the like.
- Lead development of the project website, create processes for obtaining up-to-date information from technical staff, and manage of the website to ensure that information/data and links are accurate and updated on a regular basis.
- Solicit, edit and compile material for inclusion in project quarterly newsletter and produce newsletter.
- Develop dissemination strategy for project documents and maintain of both the FMOH and project‘s library.
- Maintain repository of project, client and collaborating partner press releases, newsletter and articles.
- Participate in the set-up and preparation of all project sponsored events by providing technical support and advice on communications strategies.
- With guidance from the project senior management team on topic areas, conduct observations and interviews, write and edit articles and distribute content for electronic and print communication.
- Support the design and preparation of all project promotional activities within allotted budget.
- Provide training and guidance to project staff on general communications techniques and strategies.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree in communications, journalism or related field.
- Minimum 8 years work experience in media, journalism, communications, public relations or a related field.
- (6+) years of experience and a master degree OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Additional relevant experience and/or education in health or health financing field is preferred.
- Excellent written communication skills, in both English and Amharic; must write clearly and informatively, know how to edit work for spelling and grammar, present technical and numerical data effectively and be able to read and interpret written information.
- Affective oral communicator, who speaks clearly and persuasively, listens and gets clarifications, responds well to questions, demonstrates group presentation skills, participates effectively in meetings.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member is open to the views and opinions of others and is ability to provide leadership where and when required.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Written and oral competency in both Amharic and English.
