The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Environmental Economist based in Washington DC, USA.

Key Job Responsibilities
The Environmental Economist will perform the following functions-
- Study the linkages between environmental and economic policies, with particular focus on trade and environment policy interactions. Other topics may include resource productivity, and environmental policy design and evaluation. The exact topics covered will vary over time according to the Programme of Work defined by the Environment Policy Committee.
- Assist in developing the necessary analytical, empirical and data foundations to address the linkages between environmental and economic policies.
- Draft reports on selected environmental policy topics for consideration by Committees and Working Parties, or for publication.
- In co-operation with the OECD’s Trade and Agriculture Directorate (TAD), organise meetings of the Joint Working Party on Trade and Environment and generally share responsibility for servicing the group with TAD.
- Co-ordinate meetings, facilitate inter-governmental dialogue and disseminate findings.
- Foster collaboration with related Directorates within OECD on cross-cutting issues of environmental significance.
- Establish and maintain effective working relations with representatives of member and non-member countries, international organisations and civil society, as required.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced university degree in economics or a related field, preferably with a specialisation in environmental economics.
- Three to seven years of experience in undertaking applied analysis of environmental and economic policy issues; a focus on trade and environment interactions would be an advantage.
- Experience in a national government or an international governmental organisation would be an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to draft clear, concise, policy-relevant reports, make effective presentations and to participate constructively in policy discussions.
- This position requires fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to reach a good working level.
