The Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Intern- Economic Affairs based in New York, USA.
The DESA works closely with governments and stakeholders to help countries around the world meet their economic, social and environmental goals.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Intern will perform the following tasks-
- Conduct research on relevant topics in economic and social development;
- Assist in the organization of high-level panels and seminars for the General Assembly and ECOSOC and prepare summaries of their outcomes;
- Support informal consultations on intergovernmental legislation. Support the orgnaization of regional meetings in preparation for ECOSOC Annual Ministerial Review.
- Follow various intergovernmental meetings and Inter-agency working groups.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Enrollment in a graduate school programme (second university degree or higher);
- Enrollment in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
- Graduation with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
- Computer literacy in standard software applications;
- Fluency in English and French;
- Demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the United Nations Charter;
- Demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.
