The World Bank Group (WBG) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Operations Analyst in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The Operations Analyst will be responsible to support the CMU’s work in the coordination of the programming and implementation of the Bank portfolio in Uruguay.
WBG has set two ambitious goals to push extreme poverty to no more 3 percent by 2030, and to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Operations Analyst will perform the following functions-
- Production of portfolio and ASA monitoring tables as well as the LC7Dashboard.
- Analyses of portfolio trends, drivers and performance.
- Support to the Country Operation Adviser and Country Officers in portfolio reviews.
- Contribution to briefings and logistics aspects for important visits as well consultations with clients.
- Review of documents under the LC7Clearance processes for specific operational packages.
- Participation as team member in the elaboration of CPF products and other CMU initiatives.
- Preparation of sections of CPF documents and country strategy submissions as inputs into business plans, work program agreements, mid-year and retrospective and mid-year reviews, etc.
- Review and screening of relevant documents/reports for consistency with country strategies.
- Support for task teams by providing strategic input to the elaboration of agendas and joining key meetings during missions to facilitate government approvals and following up next steps in projects in the pipeline, as requested.
- Verification and regular updating of milestones by TTLs and proactive follow-ups to ensure timeliness on activities.
- Provision of support to the operations team in the processing and implementation of the RAS programs in the three countries (guidance to teams, monitoring of processing steps).
- Conduct of independent discussions with client representatives on selected problems and issues identified by the CMU team.
- Preparation of responses to ad hoc information requests from internal and external parties.
- Preparation, under guidance of more senior staff, of complete reports to management (e.g., Annual Meeting Briefs) or external agencies (e.g., minutes of Consultative Groups).
- Keep up-to-date a general brief with information on projects, results, general overview of the portfolio that could be used to prepare other materials such as briefs for senior management, articles, interviews, etc.
- Engage in and contribute to Country Office activities and products (presentations, reports, briefs, talking points as examples) that require operational inputs and/or follow up actions.
- Engage in and contribute to office team initiatives in general as an integral member of this team.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree with 2 years’ experience, or Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience. Economic background is desirable.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills and proven ability to apply these in carrying out complex research and operational tasks, identifying issues, presenting findings/ recommendations and contributing to resolution of sector and country issues.
- Ability to deliver timely and high quality products in his/her areas of responsibility.
- Advanced computer programs useful for operational analysis, such as spreadsheets, databases, and graphics. Statistical software knowledge a plus.
- Excellent communications skills, both in oral presentations and in writing sections of papers, briefs, independent reports, etc.
- Capacity to work simultaneously on a variety of issues and tasks, independently adjusting to priorities and achieving results with agreed objectives and deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with internal/external partners and promote collaboration in a multi-cultural environment.
- Proficiency in Spanish and English, both verbally and in writing.
- Field experience in a developing country is a plus.
