The World Bank Group (WBG) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Operations Analyst in Kathmandu, Nepal.
The Operations Analyst will work under the supervision of the Energy Practice Manager for the South Asia Region.
WBG has set two ambitious goals to push extreme poverty to no more 3 percent by 2030, and to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Operations Analyst will perform the following functions-
- Assist the Task Team Leaders (TTLs).
- As part of a team, assist the TTLs to prepare, appraise, negotiate and supervise energy projects.
- Actively participate in overseeing implementation of energy operations with the aim to enhance quality and accelerate implementation.
- Through participation in implementation support missions but also ongoing provision of technical inputs, guidance and follow-up with the implementing agencies in consultation with the TTL and the respective sector specialists.
- Contribute to analytical and advisory work as appropriate. Provide inputs to and/or prepares diverse analytical and operational products (e.g. sector and country briefings, background reports, case studies, portfolio performance reviews, etc.).
- Expected to travel regularly on official business to all parts of Nepal.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A Masters’ level degree in Engineering, Economics, or equivalent and minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience; OR combination of education and experience.
- Hands-on project management experience, an ability to efficiently manage a large number of activities simultaneously, a flair for problem-solving and an ability to self-navigate through complex bureaucratic environments.
- Energy Sector Knowledge and Experience: Possesses strong analytical and technical skills, including an understanding of the core energy data sets, indicators, tools for analysis of this data, and the use of evidence for energy policy.
- A track record of team work and ability to help in producing high-quality policy and project related written outputs with limited supervision. Strong research and analytical skills.
- Understanding of World Bank’s operational and procurement procedures will be a distinct advantage.
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email and Communications Technologies e.g. Skype) are necessary.
- Excellent oral communication skills in English and Nepali are essential, as are excellent written communication skills in English.
