Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Policy Associate in Manila, Philippines.
The Policy Associate will work closely with the Country Director and partners (both government and non-government) to disseminate evidence and help incorporate evidence in decision making for partners.
IPA is a research and policy non-profit that discovers and promotes effective solutions to global poverty problems.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Policy Associate will perform the following functions-
- Share evidence-based policy lessons with policymakers and practitioners through in-person meetings, memos, workshops, and conferences.
- Represent IPA at policymaker engagements.
- Build and maintain institutional knowledge on the state of priority sectors in Philippines (identify pressing challenges; conduct stakeholder mapping and literature reviews).
- Maintain expertise in the results of randomized evaluations applicable to Philippines.
- Write about IPA’s evaluations in relevant documents with a clear, accurate, and non-technical format for a policy audience.
- Assist in organizing policy conferences, evidence workshops, and seminars around the region.
- Assist in the preparation of materials for IPA’s policy outreach work, including drafting summaries, briefs, memos, updates, and presentations.
- With direction from the Country Director, build and maintain relationships with key partners in governments, NGOs, foundations, and multilateral aid agencies in the region.
- Support the development, coordination, and oversight of IPA Philippines capacity-building and knowledge-sharing partnerships.
- Prepare presentations, training materials, manuals, and knowledge products for capacity building initiatives.
- Support stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and outreach activities.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A Master’s degree (preferably in Economics, Public Policy, or International Development).
- Experience in project management, policy dissemination, policy writing, microeconomics, development economics, econometrics, and statistics required.
- Honors degree or an equivalent four year degree may be considered if they also have considerable relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of and interest in public policy issues in the Philippines and/or East Asia as demonstrated by coursework and/or professional experience.
- A minimum of 2 – 4 years of relevant experience.
- Attention to detail and advanced writing and presentation skills for communicating policy lessons from academic papers in ways that policymakers understand.
- Proven ability to handle several different projects/tasks at one time, successful completion of assigned tasks, and ability to meet deadlines with little supervision.
- Self-motivation and willingness to learn.
- Ability to travel throughout the country to meet with policymakers in government agencies, NGOs, foundations, and international development organizations, as well as follow-up work to promote research projects and other policy and capacity building initiatives.
- High proficiency in English, familiarity/proficiency in Filipino is desirable, but not required.
