The Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Information Management Officer based in Geneva, Switzerland.
UNECE is the part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Programme Management Officer will perform the following functions-
- Develops and implements programmes of work and activities in support of the Special Envoy and monitors and analyzes programme development and implementation; reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and initiates corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; ensures follow-up actions.
- Support the development and implementation of the action plan of the Special Envoy.
- Organizes and prepares written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, reports as well as speaking notes, speeches, etc. for the Special Envoy.
- Provides substantive backstopping to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., in which the Special Envoy participates, assisting in proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, etc.
- Coordinates outreach activities initiated by the Special Envoy, e.g. organizing workshops.
- Participates, when needed, in field missions with the Special Envoy and drafts mission summaries, etc.
- Coordinates activities related to budget funding (programme preparation and submissions, progress reports, financial statements, etc.).
- Performs other duties as required.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in in road transport engineering, transport economics or a related field.
- A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
- A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in in project or programme management, administration or related field.
- Demonstrated diplomatic skills, discretion and sensitivity in dealing with high-level personalities are required.
- Fluency in English or French, (both oral and written) is required; knowledge of the other is desirable.
- Knowledge of another UN official language is an advantage.
