The World Bank Group (WBG) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Transport Specialist in Hanoi, Vietnam.
The Transport Specialist will provide support for transport projects and analytical studies in Vietnam.
WBG has set two ambitious goals to push extreme poverty to no more 3 percent by 2030, and to promote shared prosperity and greater equity in the developing world.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Transport Specialist will perform the following functions-
- Contribute to transport project preparation including in developing results frameworks, technical designs, institutional components, project costs and implementation arrangements.
- Participate in the supervision of transport projects with an emphasis on providing implementation guidance to client on procurement and contract management.
- Provide technical review of feasibility studies, engineering designs, construction drawings and procurement packages presented by client for Bank no-objection. Ensure that the procurement procedures are in compliance with Bank guidelines and technical aspects of engineering designs are consistent with international best practice.
- Contribute to drafting missions’ aide-memoires, supervision reports, and project preparation documents.
- Provide cross-support to task teams of other related sectors with regard to transport issues.
- Participate and contribute to analytical work and advisory services.
- Actively participate in unit and country team meetings and retreats and make contributions to broader cross sectoral engagement strategy and corporate priorities, including on gender, governance, climate change and poverty.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- BSc in engineering and MSc in transport planning, economics, engineering (or related field).
- At least 5 years’ professional experience, of which two should be related to overseas development assistance activities.
- Broad experience in the management and implementation of transport projects, with experience in preparing feasibility studies and project implementation (procurement and contract management).
- Special experience in one or more areas relating to transport services, such as transport economics, traffic management, road safety, urban transport, environmental and social impacts of transport, or use of energy alternatives in transport, will be an advantage.
- Excellent inter-personal skills and ability to work effectively with Bank teams, senior government officials and representatives of international agencies.
- Preference will be given to candidates with practical knowledge of World Bank procedures.
- Knowledge of Vietnamese language (native level) is essential.
- Fluency English reading and writing skills.
