The Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Pre-Law Intern in Chicago, Illinois, US.
The Pre-Law Intern does administrative and research tasks to support litigation projects, under the supervision of NRDC lawyers.
NRDC’s purpose is to safeguard the Earth: its people, its plants and animals and the natural systems on which all life depends.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Pre-Law Intern will perform the following functions-
- The interns’ responsibilities may include organizing and indexing hard-copy and electronic litigation files; reviewing, proofreading, formatting, copying, scanning and faxing documents.
- And basic research and writing (such as factual background memos or Freedom of Information Act requests).
- Provide close supervision to ensure that each intern gets interesting, challenging, and varied work and timely feedback.
- Interns must be able to work at least two full business days a week over the course of the spring academic term (beginning in January and ending before spring exams) in NRDC’s Chicago office (downtown in the Civic Opera Building, at 20 North Wacker Drive).
- Interns may work up to 35 hours/week. We work with interns to help them claim any available academic credit. Small stipends may be available
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Enrollment in, or a recent graduation of, an undergraduate degree program and interest in learning more about litigation work (since most of the people you’ll be working with specialize in litigation).
- Well-developed writing, research, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated interest in and commitment to public service work or environmental and public health issues.
