Gavi is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Programme Officer in Geneva, Switzerland.
The Programme Officer will provide programme coordination and technical support to the planning and management of Gavi’s strategic investments to contribute to surveillance systems strengthening, impact measurement and learning.
Gavi’s mission is to save children’s lives and protecting people’s health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower-income countries.
Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Programme Officer will perform the following functions-
- Technical support for coordination and preparation for meetings and technical review processes among Vaccine Alliance partners and experts including preparation of Terms of Reference (TOR) and meeting agenda documents, supportive technical materials and presentations.
- Draft materials for commissioning investments including Requests for Proposals (RFP), TORs for peer review and adjudication committees, preparation of peer review materials and summaries results of the review and committee deliberations, correspondence with Service Providers and drafting scope of work for contracts, and relevant Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Review and synthesize the literature, governance committee documents, investment-related reports and deliverables and identify potential areas for innovation or strategic focus to technical focal points.
- Manage documentation from technical processes and meetings including preparation of meeting report.
- Track progress against strategy framework and workplan, including critical path analyses.
- Assist technical focal points in managing programme area contracts, budgets and deliverables.
- Contribute to drafting and review of programme area updates and other key documents and presentations for senior management and governance committees.
- Participate in relevant task teams and provide support for organizational requests for information on Gavi supported data investments.
- Contribute to translation of learning from Gavi supported data investments for use in strengthening programmes and policies.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Advanced university degree in Public Health or other relevant discipline (e.g. MPH, MSPH, MSc).
- Training in statistical methods, infectious disease epidemiology, and research and surveillance methods.
- Minimum of 5 years of health programme coordination or research experience in a similar position working with health programme data and systems, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the conduct of epidemiologic research, disease or vaccine safety surveillance.
- Understanding of multilateral agencies and key public health donors and experience with a public-private partnership model is an asset.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.
- French and/or other UN languages is an asset.
