The World Health Organisation (WHO) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Project Officer based in Geneva, Switzerland.
The primary role of WHO is to direct and coordinate international health within the United Nations’ system.
Key Job Responsibilities
The Project Officer will perform the following functions-
- Support resource mobilization for the department under the direction of the Project Manager (PM) including drafting grant proposals, budgets, emails and letters to donors, prepare annual and final technical and financial reports to donors, in close collaboration with the technical staff involved in the work of the grant, and the budget and finance officer, for clearance of the PM and the Budget and finance officer.
- Create and facilitate the routine use of Project Management tools within the department to monitor progress against work plans, grants and projects useful to ensure delivery of outputs according to timelines.
- Assist the PM in facilitating the work of the Malaria Programme Area Network, led by the Director, GMP by collating data from across the Department and Regional Offices to prepare biennium and annual work plans, outcomes and indicators, and draft mid-term and biennium reports.
- Coordinate monitoring progress against work plans and grants, prepare project materials and reports, coordinate with PSM staff on project priorities and activities, and ensure general efficacy and timelines of PSM work activities.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- A first university degree in one of the health or social sciences, with an emphasis in International Development and Public Health.
- An advanced university degree in Public Health. Certificate in Project Management.
- A minimum of five years of professional experience in project management in the fields of public health and/or international development. Work experience within an international organization.
- Resource mobilization, grant and budget development and reporting, and developing country experience.
- Project management skills together with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, complemented by the ability to produce results against deadlines.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, including demonstrated writing ability, complemented by an ability to understand technical issues in the field of public health.
- Ability to work independently and to promote consensus. Working knowledge of an oracle based system.
