The Human Rights Watch (HRW) is currently accepting applications from the eligible individuals for the post of Creative Manager based in New York.

The Creative Manager will collaborate with senior management, local staff and others throughout Human Rights Watch to ensure that the organization’s creative content supports the strategic vision of the department, and its growth and impact objectives.

HRW is a nonprofit, nongovernmental human rights organization made up of roughly 400 staff members around the globe. Its staff consists of human rights professionals including country experts, lawyers, journalists, and academics of diverse backgrounds and nationalities defending the rights of people worldwide.

Key Job Responsibilities

The Creative Manager will perform the following functions-

  • Manage and refresh, as necessary, the organization’s brand guidelines and lead the global brand review process;
  • Facilitate global creative requests with matching resources, maintain a global database of tested graphic designers, and build relationships with printers in key locations;
  • Lead and collaborate closely with staff on the Annual Report which includes, building and maintaining timelines, creating the English version, overseeing the copy editing, translations and vetting process, and ensuring the smooth distribution of the report;
  • Manage the creative portfolio for Annual Dinners, including design templates, design concepts, save the dates, program book and inserts, onscreen presentations, opening animations, speaker presentations, tickets, place cards, pledge cards and sponsor forms, centerpieces, stationery, posters and signage, and swag;
  • Manage requests from staff and adhere to timelines for other design projects such as outreach brochures, orientation presentations, holiday cards, and donor and event materials;
  • Oversee production and distribution of HRW swag, maintain merchandise and collateral inventory, respond to merchandise request, collect and manage merchandise orders, liaise with merchandise vendors, and ensure timely shipments;
  • Manage photography library for direct mail, newsletters, appeals, digital cultivation, and events purposes;
  • Manage Creative Services accounts including, but not limited to, FTP, Hightail, Drop box, and FedEx;
  • Perform other tasks as may be required by the Senior Director of Marketing and Operations.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must have-

  • A bachelor’s degree in graphic design or related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in creative marketing.
  • Experience working in or with major marketing agencies is required.
  • Proven ability to work with and help define a strong brand is required.
  • Proven success in working with global organizations, preferably non-profits, and across multiple languages, is required.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills in English are required.
  • Outstanding ability to verbally and visually communicate thought, ideas and values is required.
  • Ability to source and manage top freelance creative talent on a global basis is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills in order to work collaboratively within HRW as well as with external vendors are required.
  • Demonstrated commitment to human rights and/or international issues and the capacity to master and represent the mission and programs of HRW are essential.
