International Organization for Migration (IOM) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Project Development Officer in Rome, Italy. The duration for the post is of 1 year.
The Project Development Officer will be responsible for identifying opportunities for developing and promoting IOM’s strategic objectives through programmes in the Mediterranean and for developing strategic partnerships with stakeholders.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
The Project Development Officer will perform the following functions-
- Keep up to date about funding trends, policies and strategic priorities and budgetary planning cycles related to financial instruments and thematic programmes in region, especially for regional programming.
- Identify project opportunities based on national and sub-regional needs, in close collaboration with Country Offices and the Regional Thematic Specialists in the Regional Offices.
- Pro-actively seek potential funding sources among government and non-government donors, in line with IOM’s overall strategy in the Mediterranean.
- Enhance effective IOM knowledge management at the sub-regional level, including project tracking, data capture and analysis, and information sharing.
- Strengthen internal coordination and information sharing for identification of funding opportunities in the Mediterranean region.
- Manage overall fundraising data and information and maintain updated records and reports on programme activities.
- Provide technical assistance and guidance to IOM Country Offices in the EU Mediterranean region in the development of projects in response to EC calls for proposal and tenders, and others, in compliance with donor requirements and priorities. Coordinate preparation and submission of high quality project proposals.
- Draft and coordinate concept notes/project documents to share with counterparts and donors, finalize them for internal endorsement with respective RTS/HQ/ACO/LEG in close cooperation with the Project Managers and all relevant Units.
- Assist with the preparation of briefing materials for high-level meetings and resource mobilization as required.
- Undertake duty travel relating to project development as required.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Master’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Migration Studies, International Relations, Law or a related field from an accredited academic institution or advanced degree from a national border/police academy with five years of relevant professional experience.
- University degree in the above fields or degree from a national border/police academy with seven years of relevant professional experience.
- Experience in the field of migration issues both at policy and programme level especially in North and West Africa.
- Knowledge of the EU structure and funding mechanisms.
- Demonstrated high level of expertise within the thematic area relevant to project development.
- Experience in IOM project development and management in a regional or global
- Knowledge of regional issues and specifics a distinct advantage.
- Fluency in English, French and Spanish is required. Working knowledge of Italian is an advantage.
