The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is currently seeking application from eligible candidates for the post of Principal Planning and Policy Specialist for Office of the Director General, SPD, ADB headquarters Manila, Philippines.
The key responsibilities of Principal Planning and Policy Specialist
- Lead strategy development including through providing strong written and analytical contributions and inputs, and intellectual insights and perspectives for the preparation of ADB’s corporate strategies.
- Develop policies and directional documents that apply to both sovereign and nonsovereign operations, and closely coordinate with relevant departments and offices to promote greater synergies and leverage resources.
- Lead and support the preparation of the successive drafts of strategy and policy papers, including papers to be prepared for Board meetings.
- Contribute to operations coordination and monitoring activities to foster alignment of operations with medium to long term directions and strategies. Work within a framework of broad policies, principles and goals, applying a high degree of autonomy in selection of work methods.
- Lead in knowledge sharing and disseminate relevant information, findings and lessons to increase awareness and knowledge in ADB about various strategic and policy initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
Master’s Degree, or equivalent, in economics, finance, business, public administration or related multidisciplinary fields combined with specialized experience in relevant organizations
Relevant Experience
- Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level.
- At least 12 years of relevant professional experience, preferably part of it on strategy and policy development, and with excellent knowledge of development conditions and challenges across the Asia-Pacific Region, and of the broader international development agenda.
- Work experience in ADB or a similar organization, including significant participation on country partnership strategy and/or project processing and implementation teams.
- International experience working in several countries.
- Able to utilize and share relevant knowledge to benefit the broader ADB community.
- Ability to conceptualize and formulate policy and planning documents and present them cogently and effectively.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
- Strong multitasking and teamwork skills.
- Thorough knowledge of strategic objectives, priorities and operational procedures of ADB or similar multilateral institutions.
- Ability to effectively operate as part of a team.
- Excellent oral and written skills in English.
