The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is currently seeking applications from the eligible applicants for the post of Field Safety Adviser in Damascus, Syria. The duration of this position is of One year.

Key Jobs Responsibilities
Field Safety Adviser will perform the following functions-
- Assist in collecting, updating and communicating information regarding the security situation in Syria and Lebanon within the respective Area of Responsibility (AOR).
- Liaise and coordinate with host government security authorities, as well as other military actors in the field as necessary to ensure security coordination during missions and escorts arranged. Act as team leader for OMS convoys to / from field trips and establish security perimeter inside the sites.
- Prepare Security Risk Assessment and Concept of Operations (SRA-CONOPS) for each field mission and submits an After Action Report to the CSO/DCSO upon completion of missions.
- Assist in preparing and submitting other relevant security policy documents as and when requested Assist in developing OMS Security Plan and relevant Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs) Conduct security briefings as and when required.
- Conduct Facility Safety and Security Survey (FSSS) for OMS occupied Facilities.
- Assure that implemented access control measures and staff tracking at the primary OMS office location and duty station are operational and accurate.
- Assist in developing daily and weekly reports.
- Liaise closely with other Agency Security Officers, DSS Syria and Lebanon.
- Maintain an accurate daily staff list to be sent to the desk and DSS Radio Room.
- Oversee the daily radio check.
- Maintain / Update Operational Maps.
- Manage Local Security Assistants and oversee their performance.
- Track on-going missions and relay regular updates to management.
- Deputies for the CSO during his/her absence, and perform other duties as assigned by the CSO.
Eligilibty Criteria
- Applicants must have-
- Advance university degree in Military, Police, Political science or Security Management is required.
- A higher military or police diploma plus at least 6 years relevant work experience in emergency or conflict/post-conflict settings, may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- At least 5 years of directly relevant demonstrated experience and exposure in the international security arena dealing with security-related issues is required.
- Work experience from a high risk and complex environment is preferable and previous work experience from the United Nations is an advantage.
- Experience in Hardship / High Risk environment.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
- Fluency in English is a must.
- Working knowledge in Arabic is an advantage.
