The Norlha is currently inviting applications from the eligible applicants for the pot of Senior Programme Manager based in Lausanne, Switzerland.
Norlha is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious association based in Lausanne, Switzerland, that supports remote communities in the Himalayas in building capacities that will allow their sustainable development, through integrated projects in food security, income generation and environment protection, with a strong focus on supporting women.
Key Job responsibilities
The Senior Programme Manager will perform the following functions-
- Lead and actively participate in the exploration of new project opportunities in Tibet/China
- Guide, coach and supervise the field officer in all project management activities, possibly with the help of a Junior Project Officer in Lausanne
- Provide appropriate feedback to and propose adjustments for project activity plans, project budgets and project monitoring reports from field staff
- Establish reports on the implementation of activities and fund use for internal management and informing the funders
- Provide technical information and linking with technical specialists upon demand from field staff
- Participate in formulating and assessing proposals and budgets of new projects
- Organise and supervise the formulation of the next phase of the Tibet/China project
- Collaborate with Fundraising officers to identify potential funding agencies, to provide project information and to assure project reporting to donors
- Collaborate with Communication officers in producing materials about the project targeting general public
- Make field visits to the project area once or twice a year
- In the long term, coordinate and provide a significant contribution to the development of Norlha’s Country Programme strategy for Tibet/China over the next years.

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have-
- Engagement and experience in international development, involvement in field projects in developing countries (5-10 years or more)
- Experience in key aspects of project management (identification, formulation, planning, monitoring, reporting, financial management)
- Experience in or at least substantial exposure to sustainable agriculture, food security, income generation, and proactive interest in learning more
- Strong intercultural communication and social skills, pronounced respect for other cultures
- Proficient in reporting, in analysis and synthesis
- Excellent speaking and writing skills in English and preferably also in French
- Chinese speaking and reading are a definite asset
- Good knowledge of and affinity with the Himalayas and China are a strength
- Flexible in time schedule and workload acceptance in order to accommodate project management needs
