CARE International announces the vacancy of Volunteer Assistant for Programme Funding Team and seeks applications from talented and qualified candidates to fill the above-mentioned position. The location of this job will be based in Vauxhall, London. Please note that duration of this position is 3-6 months (2-3 days per week). The position is unpaid, however, we will reimburse actual travel costs to and from your home to our offices (within the Greater London area) and provide an allowance of £4 per day for lunch.
Support is needed for the Programme Funding Team within CARE International UK. This team is tasked with developing quality funding proposals for institutional donors (EU, DFID) and a variety of charitable trusts & foundations.
The post will be required to undertake research on particular donors and help develop funding proposals and reports. This role is an excellent opportunity to learn about CARE International’s programmes and the internal workings of a large international development charity. You will receive necessary training on donor and project research, proposal development, funding applications, donor management and prospect scoping, the information management database Raiser’s Edge, and other key tasks required to support the team.
Typical tasks could include:
- Using different media, subscriptions, NGO websites and existing prospect lists, to research trusts, foundations and institutional donors that support our key areas of work.
- Summarising reports and preparing briefing papers.
- Liaising with the Programme Department to collate project information to help draft funding proposals and reports for current and prospective donors.
- Drafting and/or proofreading funding proposals.
- Inputting relevant data into Raiser’s Edge, as well as keeping up-to-date research records.
- Undertaking some basic administrative duties to support the team.
Ideally, you will have some fundraising experience and a keen interest in overseas development. You will be interested in developing your research and proposal development skills and learning more about international development and the challenges faced within the sector. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and good research and organisational skills. You will be computer literate, have a good eye for detail and be a team worker.
