Applications are invited by ACDI/VOCA from qualified and deserving candidates for the job/position of Volunteer- Canopy Management Specialist. This job will be based in Egypt. Please note that this is a short term assignment.
The Agricultural Community Development Association requests volunteer assistance to train member farmers on best practices of grape production to improve the quality and quantity of their grape yields. The volunteer will assess the farmers’ current practices and will provide guidance on how to correct any issues that may limit productivity. The assignment will last for approximately two weeks in country, in addition to preparation and research previous to departure. Travel and living expenses are covered.
Qualifications
- University degree in agriculture, viticulture, or another related degree.
- Ten years’ experience in grape production and canopy management with a strong background in conducting training.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word and Powerpoint.
- The volunteer should be prepared to travel for long hours in a bad road network linking the farming communities in the region. He/she should also be prepared to live in these rural communities without internet, air-conditioning and other amenities. The volunteer must also be prepared to work under dry and hot weather conditions.
