Applications from the qualified candidates are required for the post of Programme Management Officer (Head of Programme Support Team) at UN. Job location is Abuja, Nigeria. Qualifications and Experience :
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, political or social science, criminal justice, international relations, public or business administration, project management or related fields is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
A minimum of seven years of relevant experience in crime prevention, drug control, rule of law and governance, preferably in a governmental, multilateral or civil society organization in a multi-cultural setting, out of which several at the managerial level, is required. Operational experience in the United Nations or similar international organization and working or living experience in challenging and diverse environments are desirable. Experience in managing and overseeing EU funded projects is desirable. Working experience with project management tasks, financial databases and electronic reporting facilities and managerial tools is an asset. Working experience in developing countries as well as strong presentation and diplomatic skills are an asset.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required. Knowledge of other UN official languages is an asset.
Assessment Method
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an assessment exercise which may be followed by competency-based interview.

Filling of this project position is subject to funding availability and the initial appointment will be for a period of one year. Extension of the appointment is subject to extension of the mandate and/or the availability of funds.
