Applications are invited by ACDI/VOCA from qualified and experienced candidates for the job/vacancy of Volunteer-Date Palm Agronomist, Egypt. The location of this job will be based in Egypt.
The YATSN Group requests volunteer assistance to improve the current production practices and resource management of date palm farmers and the group’s key specialists. The volunteer will assess the current practices and management of date palm production of the farmers and key specialists and will conduct a training to provide recommendations on how best to improve their activities. The assignment will last for approximately two weeks in country, in addition to preparation and research previous to departure. Travel and living expenses are covered.
Qualifications:
- University degree in agriculture, agronomy, or another related degree.
- Ten years’ experience in date palm agronomy with a strong background in conducting trainings.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word and Powerpoint.
- The volunteer should be prepared to travel for long hours in a bad road network linking the farming communities in the region. He/she should also be prepared to live in these rural communities without internet, air-conditioning and other amenities. The volunteer must also be prepared to work under dry and hot weather conditions.
