The UNEP Eco-Peace Leadership Center in Korea has announced a call for applications for the 9th Eco-Peace Leadership Program to be held in Korea. The Center will support full travel to selected participants and it will also offer a grant of $2000 to participants to implement a project for one year in the Asia Pacific Region.
1. Desertification & Forest
– Topic : Prevention of desertification, Prevention of Forest fire, Forest management
Prevention of Illegal logging, etc.
2. Water & Dam
– Topic : River conservation, Illegal waste water discharging, Prevent of river pollution
Drinking water management, River maintenance, etc.
3. Urban Ecology
– Topic : Managing and establishing urban forest, forest culture, National park
management, Attempt to register them as natural monuments, etc.
4. Rural Area Revival
– Topic : Agricultural technology, Hygiene maintenance, Rural area development
Farmer consciousness improvement project, Organic farming techniques, etc.
5. Renewable Energy
– Topic : Produce and use eco-friendly renewable energy, Waste recycle, Solar energy,
Placing trash can in the village, Biomass energy, Wind generated power,
Hydro power, Tidal energy, etc.
6. Peace & Cooperation
– Topic : Settlement of environment conflict, Grievance mediation, Harmony schooling, etc.
Prevention of Illegal logging, etc.
Financial Support
– EPLC will offer leadership program participants total 2000 USD as a financial support for the project. 40% of the support will be given at the orientation, the other 30% at the mid of the period, and the rest (30%) after result report is presented.
¤ The fund must be sent through the organization’s account by wire banking.
– An Economy class, round-trip air ticket between Seoul and the nearest international airport of the participant’s country.
– Meals and accommodation from arrival to departure excluding incidental charges, such as bills for telephone, laundry, video, mini-bar, etc.
– EMedical insurance covering medical treatment during their stay in Korea in accordance with the policies of a local insurance company. Expenses for medical treatment related to pre-existing illness, pregnancy and dental treatment are not covered by the insurance.
