With the purpose of improving the gender balance in the NOMA (Norad’s Programme for Master Studies) Programme, the Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU) seeks applications from NOMA main partner institutions with NOMA projects approved for funding for the years 2012 – 2013/14.
The Norwegian Centre for International Cooperation in Higher Education (SIU) is a public Norwegian agency that promotes international cooperation in education and research.
Norad’s Programme for Master Studies (NOMA), financed by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad) and managed by SIU, provides financial support for developing and running Master’s degree programmes in developing countries through equal partnerships between local and Norwegian higher education institutions.
This is the second and last Call for Applications for funding of gender incentive activities within the current NOMA Programme period.
There are three main Gender Incentive Categories for the NOMA Programme:
- Recruitment of female NOMA students
- Retention of female NOMA students
- Working conditions for female NOMA students
Under each main category there are various activities eligible for support.
Who may apply?
Higher education institutions in selected countries in the South can participate in NOMA if they are fully recognized by the national authorities.
Norwegian institutions that offer accredited degrees at Master’s level and are members of the Norwegian Association of Higher Education Institutions (UHR) are eligible for NOMA participation.
The main contract partners in the South are expected to actively collaborate with public and private organisations in their countries to develop the proposed study programmes.
Thematic areas
Based on the current Norwegian development priorities and identified needs of the cooperating countries, the following are the eligible thematic areas for the NOMA programme:
Education; Environment, economic development and trade; Gender; Good governance, democratic development, human rights and migration; Health; HIV/AIDS; Oil and energy; and Peace and conflict resolution;
Geographical priorities
The following countries are eligible for support by NOMA, but other developing countries may qualify depending on the current priorities from Norad:
Bangladesh; Bolivia; Malawi; Mozambique; Nepal; Nicaragua; Tanzania; Uganda; and Zambia
