The World Bank Institute (WBI), the British Council and Istanbul Technical University are pleased to announce a Call for “Youth Master Trainers for Climate Change” as part of the “Capacity Development of Youth on Climate Change” Program. The goal of the program is to empower youth from developing countries to be agents of change by implementing youth-focused climate change capacity development activities within their countries or communities.
The objectives of the program are to empower youth to become actively involved and be champions for actions on climate change in their countries or communities. More specifically, the program aims to:
- Deepen the knowledge and understanding of climate change through a face-to-face learning event and use of e-learning material, role plays, discussions and other youth-oriented material;
- Provide a set of tools and resources to help with planning and conducting youth capacity development and outreach on climate change within the context of sustainable development;
- Empower youth to become actively involved in action on climate change by developing a wider range of best practices and other skills, such as facilitation, team work, leadership, youth media engagement, project development, etc.;
- Encourage networking between youth organizations from various developing countries and link them with youth organizations in developed countries – essential for a global issue like climate change.
- Provide small amounts of financial support for up to 20 youth for projects (up to US$500 per project), to be implemented by the Master Trainers, which focus on improving understanding of climate change amongst youth and moving towards action on climate low carbon and climate-resilient development.
