The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), the United Nations University Institute for Advanced Studies on Sustainability (UNU-IAS), and the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (MOEJ) are announcing the opening of the call for proposals under the “Satoyama Development Mechanism (SDM) 2015” jointly established as a financing mechanism to facilitate the implementation of activities under the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI).
Grant Information
One or two projects will be selected under each of the four SDM project types, and will be provided with a maximum support of approximately 10,000 USD for their implementation.
Objectives
- Promote the implementation of activities under the IPSI Strategy and Plan of Action
- Promote the development of model practices for living in harmony with nature through sustainable use of SEPLS and contribution to the Aichi Biodiversity Targets
- Provide an incentive for IPSI members to strengthen partnerships and to generate a knock-on effect from joint activities for the sustainable use of SEPLS
Focus Projects
Projects will be selected on the basis of the following project types:
- Community-based activities for field inplelmentation
- Research activities
- Activities to kick-start cooperation among IPSI members
- Activities for building capacity and increasing awareness on IPSI.
Eligibility Criteria
Only IPSI member organizations are eligible to apply for the activity.
