The Global Partners in Action: NGO Forum on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Development was organized in Berlin, Germany from 2-4 September 2009 with the objective of strengthening “NGOs working in partnership in order to secure political and financial investment in sexual and reproducitve health rights for sustainable development in an uncertain interdependent world.” The conference was organized and supported by UNFPA and the Government of Germany. Applications were also requested from NGO representatives to participate in the forum. Although many may have applied and few could really participate in it, now an important outcome of this conference called the NGO Forum Small Grants Facility is offering funding support to civil society organizations to take forward the Berline Call to Action and SONGS.
NGOs which applied to participate in the conference or those organizations which participated in it can request grant support from this facility. There are grants of around $10,000 and 10% contribution will be requested from the grantee. The overall aim of this grant facility is “to sustain activism and ensure international commitments to SRHR, MDG 5 and the ICPD programme of action are upheld. These grants can be an important source of “seed money for strategic and targeted activities as part of country-led initiatives to promote the Berlin call to action and on or more of the MDGs, particularly MDG 5.
The deadline to apply for the grants is 18 July 2010. Please note that only NGOs “from the south that participated in, or applied to participate in the 2009 NGO Forum are eligible to apply.” For more information, visit this link.
