The Elisabeth and Amélie Fund under the Belgium-based King Baudouin Foundation is seeking proposals from Belgian organizations working with local NGOs in developing countries on improving access to water and ensuring sanitation. Water has been identified as “an indispensable development factor : water to drink, to ensure the necessary hygiene and for other domestic needs, for maternity wards, and school latrines, to irrigate farm land and to develop market gardening, water that can be transported to various points throughout the village, thus ensuring that women and young girls no longer have to make long and tiresome trips to the wells.”
Local NGOs in developing countries who are aware about Belgian organizations working in their areas can contact them to seek partnership and support submission of proposals. The last date for submiting proposals is 15 April 2009. For more information, visit this link.
