Through the new call, around 350 junior and senior professionals are expected to be deployed to disaster-affected countries in support of needs-based humanitarian action. The volunteers will work in the areas of resilience-building and disaster management in vulnerable, fragile or disaster-affected countries and forgotten crises. Also, it is expected that over 300 local organisations and communities will benefit from capacity building activities.
The call is open to organisations in the field of humanitarian aid, civil protection and volunteer management. Organisations need to be certified to the high standards of volunteer management established under the initiative prior to application.

With this call the European Commission expects to achieve the following results:
100 junior and 250 senior professionals deployed to communities in third countries in vulnerable and disaster-affected countries.
For 100 junior professionals: possibility to take part in apprenticeship placements in Europe before deployment.
Projects funded under this call provide synergies and complementarity to EU-funded operations in humanitarian aid or civil protection in the respective countries/regions

The total budget earmarked for the co-financing of projects is estimated at EUR 8 400 000.
The maximum grant will be EUR 700 000. Grant requests below EUR 60 000 will not be considered for funding. The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) expects to fund 25 proposals.
