With grants of up EUR 900,000, the EC intends to support NGO activities that enhance political representation and participation of disadvantaged groups like women and indigenous people. The civil society will pay a leading part in building democracy and promoting human rights in the country and the funding would focus upon enhancing their capacities for the set purposes of the programme. All applicant organizations have to be registered at PADOR. Application forms or proposals have to be completed and submitted locally at the EC office in Uganda. Funding for Human Rights and Democracy in Uganda
The European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) of the European Commission which aims to promote human rights and democracy and enhance the capacities of NGOs in developing countries has issued the call for proposals in Uganda for “Strengthening the role of civil society in promoting human rights and democratic reform, in supporting the peaceful conciliation of group interests and in consolidating political participation and representation.”
