Global Exchange, an activist human rights organization focused upon a people-centered globalization valuing the rights of workers and the health of the planet, is seeking nominations for the People’s Choice Award. Individuals or organizations making substantial contribution towards the advancement of human rights can be nominated for the award. Nominations can be posted online at the Global Exchange website.
The nominee selected for the award will receive $1,000 as a prize for their work. Additionally, they will also be recognized at the 2010 Human Rights Awards Gala to be held in San Francisco, USA on 27 May 2010.
Once nominations are submitted, voting process will begin. Photographs or videos signifying the work of the nominee can also be submitted. After the voting process is over, a People’s Choice Honoree Selection Committee will meet to review the votes and nominations and make the final selection for the award. The final selection criteria will be based on:
- The number of votes from the public each candidate receives;
- Evidence of contribution to human rights or justice related to each area of focus; and
- Demonstration that the People’s Choice honor will strengthen and advance the nominee’s efforts and work
