The Bureau of Population, Refugee and Migration under the State Department of the United States Government has made an Opportunity Announcement for providing grants to NGOs working for the prevention of gender-based violence. The 2009 “NGO Programs Targeting the Prevention Of and Response To Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Including Sexual Abuse and Exploitation (SEA)” aims to fund activities that respond to gender-based violence, support measures for its prevention and build the local capacity of the community to respond against gender-based violence “in a competent and timely manner.” The primary target beneficiaries should include refugees, returnees or the IDPs (Internally Displaced Persons). The funding is available to selected countries across Africa, Europe, Central Asia, the Americas, Russian Federation, Asia and the Near East.
